402: "Assume Nothing"
-Nick and Warrick saunter down the hall with Brass; Nick remembers the significance of "the room closest to the exit." Imagine that.
-Kenny Richmond (aka Sawyer*), a guy Nick played college ball with, recognizes Nick, and Nick gives him TMI on the crime scene.
-Greg gives some results while Nick and Grissom watch Jacque scan fingerprints. (Nick/Greg)
-Rut row: turns out Kenny Richmond, that's what, went and spewed Nick's inadvertent inside information to the media. It's not like Nick ran his mouth to the press, okay, but Warrick still thinks Nick should tell Daddy Grissom, before Grissom finds out on his own. Still, Nicky's afwaid to get in twouble. What is he gonna do, wait till Grissom comes to him and then lie about it? Lie about what?
-Nick keeps wondering if Daddy Grissom's going to punish him during their Bucket Brigading. Finally, Grissom wants to talk. No, wait, he just wants Nick to close the door.
-Nick informs Grissom that the "Magic Fingers" vibrating bed is good for sex…good for sleep, too.
-Catherine criticizes "the person" who leaked the inside information, and Nick looks sad, teary, and guilty again.
-Nick works the prints on his own, and Greggy comes to him with some DNA info. (Nick/Greg)
-Nick gets a hit on his print and is omgsoexcited!! to bring it to Grissom, but Daddy's not even impressed. Assume nothing, Nick.
-Nick tries to share his print info during breakfast with the family, but they ignore him and he feels sad again. Poor baby.
-Nick's grounded in the doghouse, and outs himself to Mama Catherine. Mama reassures the teary boy, though, and they make a new development in the case.
-Super Dave gives a good answer, and Catherine lets Nick take the possible case-breaker to DNA, so he can make Daddy happy with him again.
-Nick paces, biting his thumbnail while baby brother Greg processes the swab. (Nick/Greg)

403: "All For Our Country"
-Nick drives Warrick to the new crime scene, and he's not wearing his seatbelt. But he is wearing a pretty blue shirt.
-Who do we have around here that could find us a used soda bottle? (Nick/Greg-ish)
-Greg gets to go outside and play all by himself! But it's actually hard work :( Meanwhile, Nick examines shoe prints.
-Dirty Greg found something, and interrupts a fight between Brass and Grissom to tell them about it. No, you need to see this. Both of you. Now… Please.
-Greg tells Nick all about being in the field, and Nick knows, man, he's the same way. Daddy catches them, though, and it's back to work. (Nick/Greg)
-Greg gives results to Grissom's back.
-Nick finishes up the shoe prints, looking super pretty with some nice hand shots to match.

401: "Homebodies"
-Weevil breaks into some old lady's house*.
-Warrick gives Greg some "experience" doing fingerprinting with severed fingers. Greg coulda sworn he heard Grissom telling Warrick to do this.
-"Hey, you boys ready for softball on Saturday?"
"Ready to kick your ass, Stokes."
"You ready to kiss my what?"

-Greg presents Grissom's mummy prints. Warrick's getting sloppy. Yeah, somebody should really have a talk with that guy.
-"Bad guys leave, fear just…stays behind." (Nick)
-Greg goes for a walk down the hall with Brass, Grissom, and Sara.
-Nick digs through trash.

405: "Feeling The Heat"
-Nick put in for the promotion last week, he still hasn't heard anything back. Yeah, neither has Sara.
-A charge of child endangerment or neglect for a man who inadvertently killed his child sounds like a slap on the wrist to Greg. He and the D.A. can shake hands. Not the answer Greg expected from Catherine.
-Nick reassures a father about his son; "We're not saying he's a criminal."
-Greg invites himself in to help with Nick and Sara's investigation. He's available if they need an extra set of hands in the field. Uh, no, I think we got it, boss. (Nick/Greg)
-"Greg was right; there's the wave runner." (Nick)
-Greg brings the results on the baby to Catherine personally in the locker room.
-Nick wears his sexy waders again, and orders some scuba recovery divers around (but wishes them good luck).
-Greg runs tests on another baby's DNA. "Maybe the Winston's didn't want Howard to suffer."
-Nick concludes the boy was trying to save the girl, and tells the father as much, which makes Sara even more pissy, because she disagrees. He was just tryin'a give the guy a little peace, ya know?

406: "Fur And Loathing"
-Nick loves In And Out, he always gets the Double-Double. And knows it takes at least 5 minutes to grill the onions alone.
-Nick's back in the freezer, in a big, puffy FORENSICS coat.
-Greg's got the results on Catherine's Mannimal, and knows all about cat pee.
-Greg says, "That's what you get for eatin'…." Cat? Icky girl parts? Hm….
-Nick speaks of "George" again.**
-Doofus painted his car with blue house paint, and coffee-drinkin' Nick would love to be there when his hood starts to peal.
-Nick reassures a guy. "You're not stupid. Man, your cousin just set you up." And continues, "well, George, sometimes people, they uh, disappoint…us." Why?

407: "Jackpot"
-No Nick.
-Greg pops up for two seconds in the last ten minutes.

404: "Invisible Evidence"
-The fam discusses a case, and Nick and Greg sit across from each other. (Nick/Greg-ish).
-Nick and Sara have a discussion outside the back of the lab.
Sara: "You know what pisses me off?"
Nick: "Lot's of things."

Nick holds adhering to the wishes of one's superior important; "You don't have a career without a job."
-Nick performs some manual labor in the garage with his coveralls and his sister, Sara (hey, the background music even says as much!).
-Nick asks if Sara's still upset about her case being put on hold, and laughs at her unamused response (this a shot of Nick that's been used in the opening credits).
-Nick reassures the victim's sister after Warrick brushes her off, and gets in a tiff with Warrick afterward. Nick can't help it if he empathizes with the victim. She just wants to know that someone around here gives a damn, Warrick! *kicks trash can*
-Greg sits with some of the fam waiting over his shoulder, to give brief results with a "sorry," and Nick pops in with some info for Grissom. (Nick/Greg-ish)

408: "After The Show"
-"Now did anyone stop to think that this guy might just be nuts?" Nick and Sara are jealous that Catherine gets to lead the case, even though the original missing person's call was theirs and it'd put them both on departmental radar for the promotion they put in for. "We wouldn't ask for it if we couldn't do it." But still, Grissom thinks they can't.
-Catherine breaks out the B Team, and has Greg help her on the case. Greg wonders why not ask Nick to help, and Catherine claims she just wanted Greg to help (oh, and not because he covered for her when she put his career in jeopardy over that whole DNA mistrial thing). (mention of Nick, by Greg)
-Greg ogles a perty car. Boy, what he could do with a car like that.
-Nick tries to brush their current situation off to Sara, with "What does it matter? We're all on the same team," but upon finding Greg is helping Catherine instead of him, gets a bit flustered, but recovers and claims, "Well the only way to learn is by gettin' out in the field, and if Greg…helps find her, I'm okay with that." (mention of Greg, by Nick)
-When Catherine enters the A/V room, Nick and Sara ignore her. Greg pops in a few moments later. (Nick/Greg-ish)
-Greg gets to help dig up (diagram) the victim, and Nick instructs him. (Nick/Greg)
-When Catherine suggests Nick and Sara "take a break" as she looks at naked (autopsy) pics of the vic, Nick leaves immediately while Sara protests.

409: "Grissom Versus The Volcano"
-Greg's heard about the bombing, and he's here to help (all dressed up in his coveralls, too). If he really wants to help, he can climb underneath the car and find the initiation switch. And so, Greg lies on down and scoots right under.
-Nick has to reconstruct the bomb.
-Nick does some more labwork, and he's got answers.
-Greg daintily holds a wine glass, and speaks with a French accent.
-Nick made a volcano for the Science Fair in third grade, and he shoulda won, too.

410: "Coming of Rage"
-"Don't you hate it when hello leads to gunfire?" Nicky looks good in green.
-Greg gives Warrick some calm results.
-Nick invites Catherine to "cook" in/for the ballistics lab (and tells Nick "there's always room for Jello"), and both he and Bobby snicker at the bullet's "12 inch penetration."
-Bobby gives Nick a lesson on bullet travel, via stickman drawings.
-Greg knows what those orthodontic rubber bands are; yeah, he had it all--palate-expander, braces, retainer, head gear--5 years of misery, but worth every penny, don't you think?
-"That's why it's illegal to discharge firearms within city limits, genius." (Nick)

411: "Eleven Angry Jurors"
-Detective Vartann comes to Nick about an old case with a new turn.
-Grissom questions Nick's reopening of the case, since Nick was a Level II at the time, and closing it would have been Grissom's call.
-Nick and Vartann are led out into the woods by the stream, and Nick gets down and digs.
-By the way, the non-Hodges trace guy has heard the rumor and he's sorry, while Nick's totally oblivious. Everyone on the day shift thinks Nick deserves the promotion, but if you ask non-Hodges, Grissom only gave Sara a higher evaluation because of their "history."
-Greg's not the allergy ace. He's tryin' to get out into the field, and Catherine's multi-tasking him in the lab. She's the one who actually put him on a case, but she's also the one who took him off it. Greg's fish, but he's gotta start somewhere.
-Grrrr: it's I'm-not-buyin'-it tough-guy interrogating Nick, and he opts for silence over adhering to her request to say he believes her.
-Nick goes back out in a turtle neck, drives some stuff in the ground, and then saws some tree branches while standing on top of his vehicle (black GMC Yukon), without wearing safety glasses which is really dangerous and you can practically see all the sawdust pouring into his eyes.
-Grissom comes in to check on Nick again, as Nick examines his tree branches (and tosses one little log from one hand to the other).
-Non-Hodges tells Nick, no offense but proving the boss wrong is not the quickest path to career advancement.
-Nick's adorably firm in his non-crap-taking and even smiles after informing a woman with plans to counter his warrant by calling the judge, to "say hello for me."
-"I killed the guy." No she didn't, Greg insists. Uh uh.
-Sauntering Nick believes her. Her sister was murdered. By her.
-Four years ago Nick wouldn't have thought anything of Grissom's decision, but now Nick would fight him on it. Nick cares about the human element--not just the physical evidence. But when you start to have feelings for the people involved, you risk your objectivity. "So what? You know, I'm always getting criticized for empathizing with the victims and their families, but that's who I am. That's how I do my job. As far as the promotion goes--it's all good, man; I can live without it. I'm not you."
-Moments after Nick leaves, we see Grissom (typing a letter) to "strongly recommend" Nick for the promotion.

412: "Butterflied"
-No Nick.
-Greg enters the lab 16 minutes in to the episode to harass Sara. Talk about sucking the life out of DNA.
-Greg comes in to meet in the break room and speak via speakerphone with Grissom.
-Greg's grandfather, Papa Olaf, was Bruce Willis at age 16. Lucky for him baldness comes from the mother's side, so he- (although, so far as I know/the show has implied/common sense says, Papa Olaf was on his mother's side…)
-Greggy gets to inspect the heads of a row of doctors with an red-tinted flashlight.

414: "Suckers"
-Nick examines the dummy. No, wait, it's a CPR demonstration dummy, fully articulated.
-Greg's got a stake for Catherine, and a cross for Warrick--just in case. He also knows all about Absinthe.*** He also knows, "not from personal experience"--and instead from a friend of a friend of an acquaintance--that Absinthe happens to be served in certain underground clubs. Which happen to play the radio edit version of Marilyn Manson's "This is the New (s)Hit".
-Nick thinks the guy on the security video looks like he crapped his pants.
-"You know, nothing says I love you like an ounce of fresh blood." (Greg)
-Nick laughs at the lifeguard's Macaulay Culkin joke, while Sara, as usual, is far from amused.
-Nick comes in to tape-lift a print on the sword Grissom just dusted and…uh oh, he broke it. "Grissom, how's our insurance? I was bein' careful, I swear."
-Nick plays with one of the fake swords, and has…never listened to Gilbert & Sullivan, but he is weirded out by Grissom's singing.

413: "Paper or Plastic?"
-Nicky's checkin' the security tapes again. And chewing gum. Noticeably.
-The thing Nick hates the most is…the bad guys always know if there's gonna be a gun fight.
-Nick instructs the labrats on how to count the money, hands in his pockets, before explaining the store's cash-handling techniques to Catherine.
-Nick, Catherine, and Warrick saunter down the halls, giving a pretty nice view of the place from the entrance of the lab on in.
-"Hey, ya'll." Nick pops in to join a discussion already started by Catherine, Grissom, and Warrick in the break room.
-Nick has something Catherine should see, and breaks the case with the surveillance tapes.
-No Greg.

415: "Early Rollout"
-Poor baby Greg gets invited out to a scene (in his VW Jetta), but gets lost (goes to the wrong gate) and calls Warrick; he's been there for 20 minutes, what's the code?
-Nick knows Mike Trent is a "big dog in the club world. Rumor is he paid Little[sic] Kim ten thousand dollars one time just to walk into one of his clubs, turn around and walk back out." He then tells Sara to let him have one of her cough drops. Sorry, last one.
Warrick: "You look like a man who just rolled outta bed. You alright?"
Greg: "Yeah, why?" Warrick: "T-shirt, sneakers, and you already a half hour later. Grissom'll rip you a new one if he sees you like that."
Greg: "Seriously."

And so Greggy gets some learnin' on how to present himself at a crime scene, and how to take care of his supplies. It's just, nobody ever told him. Now you been told. Yes, sir.
-A vision of an illuminated bad guy morphs into Nick, who promptly questions Sara, "You still suckin' on that same cough drop?" She "is." Nick huffs, and gets back to work.
-Greg's ordered to get on his hands and knees, check the carpet for trace.
-Nick and Warrick take a stroll outside at night, and Nick looks mighty small beside him.
-Nick and Warrick collect bikes. And Warrick wows Nick again. "Now how did you know the receipt was in there?"
-Greg's found something on some butts.
-One of my favorite scenes ever--Nick talks to a cashier at a fast food joint. "I get all the creeps in drive through. Teenagers, perverts, walk-ups, and those are my favorites. 'Hi, I'm on a skateboard, can I have a burger combo?' 'No, dork.'"
-Greg's concerned about a hundred dollar bill. "Ya know, the last time I checked, defacing government property was a federal offence."
-Nick shows Grissom the cleaned up surveillance stills. "Now, call me crazy, but it looks like Daddy doesn't like the little man wearin' the binoculars around his neck so much."
-Now, Grissom and Nick go for a stroll. Can you see me now?

416: "Getting Off"
-Greg gets to examine semen stains on some heart-covered boxers. Which isn't exactly probative. Can't tell you how long they been there, or how often the guy changes his shorts. "You know, I knew a guys that could go up to four days on a single pair of tighty whities." Greg seems to be speaking a bit from timid personal experience…
-Greg checks out Warrick's case in the garage.
-Greg examines some drugs in the lab, whilst others work around him, and Grissom pops in with a possible answer.****
-Nick pops up in the end, to offer a scared "mm hmm" to Warrick's "Man, there is something so heartbreaking about a woman with raggedy drawers." Yes, he's still afraid of panties, too. And then Greg pops in. The gods of CODIS have blessed them with a hit. (Nick/Greg-ish)

417: "XX"
-What do you say we check out the bus? Nick's here and ready to work, decked out in his jacket and vest, and promptly crawls under the bus.
-Nick grabs Sara and goes directly to jail. And the female prisoners enjoy them some man-candy.
-Coverall-wearin' Nick finds blood and semen on the bus.
-"Sounds like we're looking' for a lethal pair of white underpants." Also, Nick and Hodges bond over not getting Christmas gifts from Grissom.
-Nick says it's still rape, under cover of authority.
-Greg's a guy who likes to tie up loose ends. Double-X marks the spot.

418: "Bad To The Bone"
-Tony got worked; just wanted his money back. Nick examines surveillance videos with Sara.
-Whoooa, Yahtzee! Nick works (and wears his coveralls) with Sara in the garage again. And he doesn't understand how this scumbag could beat someone to death and then just go and grab a burger.
-Got time for somthin' a little weird? Greg's here.
-Nick watches Archie construct a computer illustrated composite.
-Greg does some lab work, and shows up later with the results.

419: "Bad Words"
-"What's the 911 page? Fire's not even out yet." Nick arrives on the scene with Catherine, puffy forensics coat and all.
-And here we meet the little freckled boy who is my dad's identical twin born 45+ years later.
-What'choo got, partner? Nick finds something outside.
-A lady weirds poor Nicky out when she talks about arousal and implies he masturbates. No, no, no, no, we're not talkin' about me.
-You rang? Nick asks Greg to help out with some 'field' work. Thanks, Doll. (Nick/Greg)
-Greg has the time of his life checking Nick's matches, then gives his results to Nick and Warrick. (Nick/Greg)
-Nick wears something that resembles real glasses to a baseball field.
-Nick's back in the garage with Warrick, Catherine, and coveralls.
-Greg examines pee in a cup. Everyone except for the little guy was getting' high and getting' by.
-More computer work for Nicky. He recreates the fire via computer animation. Woo, it sure is easy.
-Any luck? Yeah, the bad kind. Nick does a trick with magnets.
-More coveralls. Nicky's back on the scene.
-Nick: And the son, Sam?
Catherine: I don't think so. "Bitch", it's such a teenage girl word.
Never mind how unlikely it is that a kid would spell it correctly, period.

429: "Dead Ringer"
-The gang runs, wearing matching outfits complete with black vests. Where I wonder why Nick grabs a plastic water bottle, when in real races/marathons they use paper cups (because they can be stepped on without injury), but despite the lack of logic in such, it all goes back to the crux of the plot. Couldn't find the killer if the water hadn't been in a bottle…
-Greg draws a picture. Of the crime scene.
-Got a second? Sure, what's up? Greg saunters down the hall with Nick. Good hunch, Greggo. (Nick/Greg)
-Greg shows Nick the results of his hunch. (Nick/Greg)
-"Hey, regular guys don't steal 300 dollars with a dead cop's ATM card!" Nick gets cranky, then finds himself restraining a laugh.
-Maybe Greg's not the only one who gets screwed up by daylight savings time. Nick and Greg go over the surveillance again. (Nick/Greg)
-Nick uses his pocketknife to clumsily pry a plastic piece from an ATM, and runs to the resulting scene of an accident.

421: "Turn of The Screws"
-Forklift anything bigger than Greg. Baby brother gets to work out in the field; yay! He shows up with Nick and Sara, and Nick sets Greg up with taking notes. ("Huge criminal and civil liability, so keep it quiet." And Nick looks up, briefly, with his guilty puppy-dog eyes.) (Nick/Greg)
-We return to the evidence collecting, with some nice hovering-Greg, and instructing-Nick. (Nick/Greg)
-Greg provides the gang with this little gem: "Nuts don't just pop off by themselves." (Nick/Greg)
-Greg finds something a little unusual. For a roller coaster. Not a sailor, but a…
-Nick's the man. Are you? After examining the screws, and doing other manly manual labor things, Nick has a theory. But it's shot down once Greg comes in with new evidence. "There goes my theory. No one tampers with their sex machine." Eyebrow raise in Greg's direction. (Nick/Greg)
-Now that picture's worth 5 bucks. Nick and Sara look at pics taken on the roller coaster.

422: "No More Bets"
-Seventeen minutes in, Sara finds Nick in the locker room. Everything okay? Nick got the promotion. Congratulations. That's not necessary. Position was cut. Budget had room for the promotion or a new something-or-another. Greg will be thrilled. Oh well; it's just an honor to be nominated, right? (Nick/Greg-ish)
-Uh oh. Nick hates it when they make him run.
-It rains in Vegas, and Nick wears nylon pants to match his jacket.
-Here you go. Nick shoots the gun, and Warrick examines the bullet.
-Greg offers a few seconds worth of results. Are you disappointed? It's the evidence.

423: "Bloodlines"
-Nick and Grissom examine/document the crime scene whilst the victim's story plays over them, her scenes interspersed with theirs.
-Greg has some information that will be of use to Grissom. But, before he gets it, Greg needs a decision. Greg's tired of being on the fence, here. Either I'm in the lab, or I'm in the field. Which is it? Well, as soon as you find and train a replacement you can be in the field. Until then I need you in the lab. Now give.
-Nick does his most favoritest job ever--making/checking shoe prints. Greg does his most favoritest job ever--doing that DNA-type stuff in the lab that he does. And then, they come together. What'd'ya got, Greg? (Nick/Greg)
-Black-wool-hat-wearin'-Nick searches in the cold with his fellow CSI's. 70, 60, still movin'.
-More manual-labor for Nicky (coveralls!), this time in the form of checking vacuum cleaner contents.
Warrick, Nick, and Sara go out, then break up. Sara walks a little longer with Nick, offering a 'real' congratulations. Wow, that's really hard for you, isn't it?

*Lost.
*Just a note for Veronica Mars fans.
**According to some psychological studies, people tend to feel most uneasy when saying their own name.
***Yes, the preferred drink of Marilyn Manson.
****You ever notice how they never took the microscope lights on? When they're on, you see two white dots of light reflecting off each eye, but I've only ever seen this once (with Greg, in the first season) on CSI.
