Disclaimer

Ah, my disclaimer. Kind of an important piece to read, if you’ve got little idea of just what fan fiction is. If that’s the case, perhaps you need a brief lesson. A fan is someone who may, perhaps, describe themselves as a ‘fanatic’ about a certain person, group, show, movie, book, etc. And “fiction” is, well--just that, fiction. Not true, and created from the mind of the writer. Thus, put the two together, and you’ve got fictional stories created by fans of and about some faction of a ‘fandom’ they consider themselves part of.

Some of my earliest stories on this site consist of slash (homoerotic stories thusly considered male/male) involving the Backstreet Boys, mostly that of Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson. While my interest in them has no doubt waned, I will still leave these stories up to be read and accessed (with the exception of a few) for those who still enjoy them. However, I do still feel the need to make it clear that--again--all stories written ‘about’ them are fiction, and not truly about them. As in, they really are my own characters that I’ve developed as I pleased who had the same names and similar looks and some similar characteristics as the “real” people. I’ve made no claim that my characters are them, or that anything I’ve ever written of them is in fact true. No, it’s all fiction.

Now my focus mostly exists in the CSI fandom, writing of the characters Nick Stokes and Greg Sanders in their own slashy/homoerotic (or even platonic) relationships. This is where the whole copyright things gets a bit fishy. As when you’re writing “real” people, you can claim similarities are only coincidence--you’re not writing characters created by someone else, because they aren’t characters in the first place. The same cannot be said when you’re writing “people” from a TV show. Still, as is the standard claim in fictional people fan fiction--I make no money from this, and nor do I have anything to do with the actual show. What I do is play with their characters, and write them in appealing sorts of situations that we’ll likely never see on TV, to satisfy that need. Fan fiction when it comes to TV shows only creates a stronger fan base for the show, and, I believe, does the farthest thing from harm, unless somebody actually does try to do something so stupid as to make money (without permission) through the stories they’ve written with these characters. That’s clearly not the case here. Thus, I only help.

Also, I don’t tend to consistently write in the realm of the ’norm’. You won’t tend to find the cliché here, but nor will you tend to find the popular or most often sought types of stories, either. Which is not to say I haven’t gotten some ‘vanilla’ stories to fill the needs of my average reader, but it’s best to keep an open mind when visiting this site. I don’t tend to get too hardcore in whatever area I may go, but in some stories it can get up there. However, I make no apologies for where I go. And while I can’t guarantee you’ll like everything I write, I am one who believes that if something is written well enough, people can get into (or at least understand the appeal in) nearly anything. So perhaps there’s a chance you could find the same to be true for you.
